„Ich vorschlage… ehm… Ich schlage… vor… ehm…“I suggest… um… I sug-… gest… um…
I had learned that word. So many times! And still couldn't say one sentence.
By the time I had the sentence, she was on her phone.
My Anki decks follow my textbook. Word by word. Never a sentence.
The Kurzdeutsch app is different. A card can do more than just a word: it can train sentences too.
I open the app. Then Forward translation. Then the gear ⚙.
Type: Cube. Example: Practice. And AI check on.
The same card — but now it asks about every side of the word.
And the example is no longer just shown. Now I build the sentence myself.
The translation is given. I type the German or dictate it (🎤).
A mistake? First it lets me Fix it myself. Or I Send it as it is.
AI check is on by default. Sign in — the free checks are yours.Checked by AI.
Not just "wrong". It shows me the separable prefix and the word order — and whether the meaning came through.
After the session: Retry weak translations (3) or Today's translations (12).
The ones I got wrong come back until I get them right. The schedule doesn't change — it's just practice.
A few weeks later.
„Ich schlage vor, wir treffen uns am Samstag.“I suggest we meet on Saturday.
„Samstag? Ja, gern!“Saturday? Sure!
Said it before she could reach for her phone.
Free checks run out? General settings → Key: Your own. Guide: kurzdeutsch.com/key
When the free checks ran out, I added my own key. Now I practise as much as I want.
